COMPANY POSITIONS AND QUALIFICATION
Home Health Aide (HHA) HHAs provide personal care and homemaking services to individuals who require home care services.
Training may consists of 96 hours of training from a technical college (HHA and nursing assistant training). It may also consist of a competency skills and written test, where competency is determined by an RN.
Personal Care Attendant (PCA PCAs provide personal care to the elderly and disabled in the home. PCA services consist of activities of daily living, including homemaking tasks. PCAs are supervised by an RN and daily cares are directed by the client.
Training may be provided by the company, which training consists of classroom training conducted by a RN. A competency evaluation must be successfully completed, before a person may work as a PCA. Training may also consist of successful completion of a nursing assistant and/or home health aide course at a technical college.
Homemakers
Employees will provide general housecleaning, meal preparation, grocery shopping/errands for the elderly and disabled.
All homemakers must attend a minimum of a two-hour orientation, prior to servicing any of the clients.
Homemakers must meet a 24-hour training requirement within their first year of employment. The 24-hour requirement is based on training and experience of the homemaker.
*The Hennepin County Well Child Care Program provides well child care (“homemaker”) for families where the parent is unable to care for the children. This entails providing meal preparation, laundry, house cleaning, and supervision of the children.
Sick Childcare Aide
Employees provide childcare services to sick children, with minor illnesses. This includes administering medication and caring for children, ages 6 months to 12 years of age.
They must have childcare experience, HHA competent, 1st aide and CPR competent and/or certified.
